Softball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside dropped to 20-10 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Hurricane Redskins, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Riverside got a good showing from Genna Nichols, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Nichols has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

As for Hurricane, they pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

On Hurricane's side, Riverside's batters probably weren't too happy with Kate Justice, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up a single walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josie Shamblin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kiley Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Riverside will be playing at home against Oak Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Hurricane does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
