Volleyball Recap: Bridgeport Handles Robert C. Byrd

The Bridgeport Indians earned a 2-0 win over the Robert C. Byrd Eagles on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Bridgeport easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final set scores came out to 25-8, 25-17.

Taylor Randolph paced Bridgeport's offense, picking up nine kills. Randolph got some help from Katie Backus and her 12 assists. Rowyn Harris controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Bridgeport has now won nine of their last 11 games on the road. That gives them a 5-5-1 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-4 Robert C. Byrd and 1-4 Buckhannon-Upshur (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28% over those games). As for Robert C. Byrd, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Bridgeport has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against East Fairmont on the 10th. As for Robert C. Byrd, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against James Monroe on the 12th.
