Baseball Recap: Rushville Takes a Loss

If Rushville was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Cambridge City Lincoln on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions lost 18-11 to the Connersville Spartans on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Monday.

Rushville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Taylor, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Taylor has snagged this season. Another was Nicholas Bowles, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Connersville, their record now sits at 11-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rushville will welcome Batesville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Connersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Palestine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
