Softball Recap: Ovid-Elsie Comes Up Short

Ovid-Elsie blew Alma out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Alma got their revenge. The Marauders fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Marauders have suffered since May 22, 2025.

Audrie Vandeusen put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Vandeusen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Haley McClung made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Isabella Phillips was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Ovid-Elsie has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Alma, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ovid-Elsie will face off against New Lothrop at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Alma, they will take on Greenville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
