Baseball Recap: Phoenix Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Phoenix can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past the Mazama Vikings 11-1. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Chris Phillips made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Phoenix let Wyatt Parent and Alex Charlton run wild. Parent went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Charlton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Charlton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Shilts, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Phoenix's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 11-7. As for Mazama, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-7-1.
