Cactus dropped down to 5-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks, falling 30-7. Having soared to a lofty 51 points in the game before, the Cobras couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Cactus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nathaniel Linares rushed for 73 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards.

As for Yuma Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-4. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 15, 2024 (when they won 35-0).
Yuma Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brody Amon led the charge by picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Amon also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because the Shamrocks are 2-1 when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Nash Ott was another key player, having thrown for 349 yards and two touchdowns.
