Volleyball Recap: Athens Red Hawks vs. Churchill Chargers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stoney Creek, Athens was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Churchill Chargers. The Red Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Chargers, too.

While Athens won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Skyye Frailey paced Athens' offense, picking up 11 kills. Frailey got some help from Angie Leonard and her 18 assists. Frailey also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lily Fellin, racking up three apiece.

The win snapped Athens' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-12-1 record. As for Churchill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.
