Softball Recap: Indian Land Wins High-Profile Match Against Nation Ford

On Tuesday, Indian Land faced Nation Ford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Indian Land Warriors came out on top against the Nation Ford Falcons by a score of 5-1. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Indian Land got a massive performance out of Layla Crandall, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Gracyn Waiksnis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Crandall wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Indian Land lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Indian Land's victory bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Nation Ford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Indian Land will face off against Catawba Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nation Ford, they will square off against Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nation Ford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Rock Hill's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
