The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mammoth, who defeated 711th ranked Excelsior Charter, 28-13. Denis Orrick ran for 138 yards and caught 2 passes for 13 yards in the win.
Fans got a thrill when Maurisio Venegas and Billy Seals connected against Boron. The connection was good for 92 yards, the longest such play in Desert Mountain this season.
Riverside Prep's dynamic duo of Venegas and Seals proved tough for the Bobcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Venegas threw for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns and Seals had 103 yards receiving. Bailey Hill helped Riverside Prep's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 35 yards.
D.J. Payne was a force in the backfield as Boron beat the Silver Knights.
Jaime Escobar was a key player and the best on defense this week as Desert beat Desert Christian. He racked up 1 sack.
Payne was a passing and rushing force as Tim Seaman's team topped Riverside Prep. He completed 2 passes for 55 yards and also ran for 367 yards. Payne's key target this week was Jadrian Wiser, who caught 5 passes for 83 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Evan Martinez of Silver Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,317. He has also thrown 15 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chad Gleason. The Desert star has 31 catches for 657 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Trojans and dj williams' team face off next week.
As it stands, the Bobcats are in third, while the Scorpions are in second.
The league will see a high scoring game when Boron and Desert face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bobcats comes in having scored 253 this season, while Chris Hinton's team has scored 277. Boron scored 52 points last week as it beat the Silver Knights.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Bobcats beat Riverside Prep 52-34. The win marks fifth in a row for the Boron.
