Soccer Game Preview: Cocke County vs. South-Doyle

Cocke County hasn't had much luck against South-Doyle recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Fighting Cocks will square off against the Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South-Doyle will be up against a hot Cocke County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Fighting Cocks blew past Seymour 6-1 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle kept a clean sheet against Sequoyah on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Chiefs. The final result isn't all the surprising considering South-Doyle's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Sequoyah are ranked 240th).

South-Doyle's offense was hitting Sequoyah from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal. Roger Oseguera Cruz led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

The victory (which was South-Doyle's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those four contests. As for Cocke County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

Cocke County suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to South-Doyle when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Fighting Cocks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
