Softball Recap: Canyon Hills' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Canyon Hills dropped their record down to 16-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Scripps Ranch Falcons by a score of 2-1. The Rattlers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

As for Scripps Ranch, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

For Scripps Ranch's part, Kenzie Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Johnson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Mather, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Looking ahead, Canyon Hills will be playing at home against Mira Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Scripps Ranch, they will face off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chieftains have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
