Baseball Recap: Mercer County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mercer County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Western Hills Wolverines on Monday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brayden Campbell made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Campbell was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Carter Devine was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Mercer County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 13-15 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Colson Fogg, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Mercer County's win bumped their record up to 19-16. As for Western Hills, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer County will venture away from home to challenge Washington County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Hills, they will head out to take on Carroll County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
