Softball Recap: East Union's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

If East Union was feeling good fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Sierra on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers fell just short of the Oakdale Mustangs by a score of 11-10 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Savanna Lopez and Caliyah Lopez did some serious damage despite the final result: Savanna got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Caliyah went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Caliyah has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Leah Altstadt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

With the loss, East Union broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-13. As for Oakdale, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. East Union will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wood at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Oakdale also won't see the field for a while: their next matchup is against Bear Creek at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Mustangs are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
