Baseball Game Preview: North White Vikings vs. Northfield Norsemen

North White is 0-6 against Northfield since May of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Norsemen at 10:00 a.m. North White has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

North White is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against North Newton, falling 18-4.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Northfield challenged Southwood on Wednesday. The Norsemen came out on top against the Knights by a score of 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Norsemen.

Maddux Daniels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Leming, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Northfield is 2-1 when Leming posts three or more RBI, but 6-12 otherwise. Kam Pratt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Northfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for North White, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

North White suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Northfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
