Baseball Recap: Hanover Central Gets the Win

Hanover Central took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lake Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Indians on Monday, sneaking past 6-4. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 10-0 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Geoffrey Resney and Dylan Bowen did most of the damage at the plate: Resney got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, while Bowen went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Creasbaum, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hanover Central moved to 20-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Lake Central, they moved to 24-5 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Hanover Central will face off against Illiana Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 4.1, the Vikings 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Lake Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
