Basketball Recap: Roosevelt's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

If Roosevelt was feeling good fresh off their 61-41 takedown of Wilmer-Hutchins last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Roosevelt Mustangs took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carter Cowboys on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Cowboys are ranked 119th).

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Johnson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Washington, who posted ten points and three steals.

Roosevelt moved to 13-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Carter, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Roosevelt and Kimball will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Kimball's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
