Baseball Game Preview: Lynbrook Vikings vs. Mountain View Spartans

The Lynbrook Vikings will head out to challenge the Mountain View Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Lynbrook has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lynbrook came up short against Santa Clara on Thursday, falling 22-3. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Akira Gok made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Monesh Ponduri also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Mountain View fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Saint Francis on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 3-2. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mountain View also got a good showing from Ben McDonald, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. McDonald has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Austin Xu was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lynbrook, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
