Basketball Recap: Little Elm Takes a Loss

Little Elm was the 60-35 winner over Marcus when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Little Elm Lobos were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 41-40 to the Marcus Marauders. While losing is never fun, the Lobos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Marauders are ranked 140th).

Little Elm's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shiloh Kimpson, who posted 15 points and five steals. The matchup was Kimpson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Staci Pettie was another key player, putting up nine points.

Little Elm has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Marcus, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Little Elm wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-50 win against Lewisville on the 11th. As for Marcus, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-48 defeat against Coppell on the 11th.
