Soccer Game Preview: Rouse vs. Leander

The Rouse Raiders will square off against the Leander Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Rouse is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Texas' top teams: Cedar Park, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Rouse was ranked sixth). Rouse took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cedar Park on Tuesday. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous seven contests, Leander brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past Lehman 4-1 on Tuesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Lions' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Leander's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2-1 and their overall record up to 7-6-2. As for Rouse, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-2-1.

Everything went Rouse's way against Leander in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Rouse made off with a 3-0 win. Will Rouse repeat their success, or does Leander have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
