Baseball Recap: Halifax County Wins Going Away Against Martinsville

Halifax County got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on the Martinsville Bulldogs with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Halifax County got a massive performance out of Cole Bowen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Eli Seamster, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Bowen wasn't the only one making solid contact: Halifax County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for the Comets: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.

Halifax County's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for Martinsville, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Halifax County will welcome Tunstall at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Martinsville, they are taking a road trip to challenge Magna Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
