Basketball Recap: Fort Lupton Piles Up the Points Against Englewood

Fort Lupton hadn't done well against Englewood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Fort Lupton Bluedevils breezed by the Englewood Pirates to the tune of 49-9. The match marked the Bluedevils' most dominant win of the season so far.

Fort Lupton was led to victory by Marely Gomez and Maddie Beverly. Gomez went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight steals and six assists, while Beverly almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. Beverly continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Daniella Aviles, who posted six points along with 11 boards and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Fort Lupton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Englewood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Christina Molina, who had five points.

The victory was the third in a row for Fort Lupton, bringing their record for this year to 4-7. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Englewood, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.
