Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

After soaring to nine goals the game before, Independence was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Butler Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Butler are ranked 130th).

Independence has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Butler, their win bumped their record up to 5-3-2.

Independence has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Porter Ridge on the 27th. As for Butler, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-1 victory against Garinger on the 27th.
