Softball Recap: Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds vs. Crestview Knights

Lima Central Catholic had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it five. They lost 16-3 to the Crestview Knights. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Crestview, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Crestview's part, Alli Thatcher made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. Thatcher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Crestview let Kaci Gregory and Delanie Balliet run wild. Gregory went 4-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Balliet got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Gregory a new career-high. Emma Ward also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
