Softball Preview: Clay County Tigers vs. Whitley County Colonels
The Clay County Tigers have the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome the Whitley County Colonels at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
Last Friday, Clay County came up short against Lynn Camp and fell 6-1.
Abby Bowling was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Bowling was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Bowling wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Presley Griffin, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Meanwhile, Whitley County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Jackson County on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Whitley County.
Hallie Huddleston was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run.
Clay County has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Whitley County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
