Softball Preview: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. South Brunswick Cougars        
        
		
            
 The Scotland Fighting Scots will head out on the road to  face off against  the South Brunswick Cougars at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. Both teams are coming into the  matchup red-hot, with Scotland sitting on  nine straight  victories and South Brunswick on four.
 Last Tuesday, Scotland had just enough and edged West Stanly out  6-5.
  Avery Stutts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing nine innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off   eight  hits. Stutts has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than seven  innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Stutts was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances with a  home run.
 In other batting news,  Madison Dixon was  excellent,  going 4-for-5 with two  RBI and a  double. Another player making a difference was  Dawson Blue, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-4.
 Meanwhile, South Brunswick has not done well against Hoggard recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  last Wednesday. South Brunswick never let Hoggard onto the board and left with  a   1-0  win. South Brunswick's pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a  run in their last three  games.
 South Brunswick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Olivia Brown, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Scotland's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for South Brunswick, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record  this season.
 Both  the pair just can't seem to miss. Scotland has been making plenty of contact this season,  having  averaged 9.3  hits per game. However, it's not like South Brunswick struggles in that department as   they've been averaging  only 3.4. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
