Basketball Game Preview: Green Valley Gators vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs

The Green Valley Gators are taking a road trip to challenge the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Green Valley will head into Wednesday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sunrise Mountain on Wednesday. Green Valley was the clear victor by a 59-39 margin over Sunrise Mountain. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Green Valley found their leader in sophomore Lamarcus Carter, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorden Smith, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge blew past Del Sol, posting an 80-43 victory.

Green Valley has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Shadow Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Green Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, but they still walked away with a 67-63 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Green Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
