Softball Recap: Valley Forge Comes Up Short

Valley Forge extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They came up short against the Rocky River Pirates, falling 14-1. The matchup marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Rocky River, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Considering they have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rocky River's part, Reagan Kane made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Kane has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Rylie Quaiser was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie Dietrich, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Valley Forge will square off against Hudson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Explorers have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Rocky River, they will head out on the road to face off against Magnificat at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
