Softball Recap: Oak Hill's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Oak Hill made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Charleston, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Red Devils blew past the Black Eagles 14-6 on Wednesday. While the Red Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mary Butcher spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Meeka Miller was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Sadie Branch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Oak Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win was the fourth in a row for Oak Hill, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for South Charleston, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Oak Hill will square off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Charleston, they will face off against Hoover at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
