Basketball Game Preview: Oakridge Owls vs. Temple Christian Eagles

Two dominant guards in Aaron Greenberg and Jessie Dejesus are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Oakridge Owls take on the Temple Christian Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday... Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Oakridge turned things around against Dallas Christian two weeks ago. They snuck past the Chargers with a 53-47 victory.

Greenberg was his usual excellent self, going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and three blocks. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Frazier, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Temple Christian made easy work of North Side on Saturday and carried off a 67-44 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Oakridge better focus on containing Grant Walker and Dejesus as the pair were huge in Temple Christian's win. Walker went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Dejesus went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Walker a new career-high in steals.

Oakridge's victory bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Temple Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Oakridge has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Temple Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for Oakridge against Temple Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, as the team secured an 88-12 win. Does Oakridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Temple Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
