Preview: West Morris Mendham vs. Vernon
On Friday Vernon will take on West Morris Mendham . The odds don't look promising for Vernon, but the bigger the opponent is, the harder they fall.
Things haven't been easy for Vernon, and their matchup last Friday only extended their streak of losses to seven. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 6-34 walloping at Jefferson Township's hands. Vernon's defeat came about despite a quality game from John Kowalski, who caught passes for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. In fact, with ten tackles Kowalski was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 35 points the game before, West Morris Mendham faltered in their contest last Friday. They took a hard 6-25 fall against Morris Hills.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
