            If Newton-Conover was feeling good  fresh off their  68-37 takedown of Bunker Hill last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Newton-Conover Red Devils fell  52-40 to the Maiden Blue Devils on Tuesday. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won  58-52.

Newton-Conover lost  despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was   Sara Sain, who  dropped  a double-double with 11 points and 15  rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to  steals, as she's  now  grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's  played.  Lea Boyens was another key player,  putting up nine  points and five  steals.
 Even though they lost, Newton-Conover  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 21  offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least eight  offensive boards in 26 consecutive  matchups  dating back to last season.
Newton-Conover's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Maiden, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record  this season.
 Newton-Conover does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maiden, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next  contest,  a  73-57  defeat against East Burke on the 21st.
