Baseball Recap: Wasilla Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Anchorage, Wasilla was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the North Pole Patriots by a score of 10-6. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the game before.

Ramon Guzman and Jacob Johnson were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Guzman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Johnson struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. What's more, Guzman posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. At bat, Guzman earned one RBI and two runs, while Johnson went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was Guzman's first of the season.

In other batting news, Wasilla got a big performance out of Whalen Havlerson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hunter Delcour, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Wasilla's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Wasilla will challenge Palmer at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday. As for North Pole, they will square off against Homer at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight.
