Baseball Recap: McLoud Takes a Loss

McLoud extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 21-1 to the Sulphur Bulldogs. The Redskins were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.

As for Sulphur, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

For Sulphur's part, Michael Morris made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Morris was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Brady Foster looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Colton Cole was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Drake Wood, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While McLoud had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
