Softball Recap: Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans vs. Onaga Buffaloes

Cedar Vale/Dexter extended their postseason success on Friday against Onaga. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Onaga Buffaloes 5-4. Winning may never get old, but Cedar Vale/Dexter sure is getting used to it with their 13th in a row.

Zoe Davidson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Davidson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Davidson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Davidson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Ghram, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

On Onaga's side, Willow Hochstedler spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.
