Softball Recap: Lewis Central Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Lewis Central won the last time they faced Red Oak and things went their way on Monday too. The Titans put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 20-1 victory. Considering the Titans have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emerson Coziahr spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Griffin was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Johnette, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Lewis Central's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Red Oak, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lewis Central beat the Tigers by a score of 13-0 later that day.
