Canyon del Oro has gone a perfect 5-0 against Rincon/University recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Canyon del Oro got a great performance from Regen Mazura as he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Mazura has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, Tarrell Reid and Adrian Encinas did most of the damage at the plate: Reid went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Encinas went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Brayden Hoyler also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Canyon del Oro hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rincon/University's offense. They came up short against Sunnyside on Thursday, falling 16-0.
Canyon del Oro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Rincon/University, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-19.
Rincon/University's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Canyon del Oro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. It's a different story for Rincon/University, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Canyon del Oro's hitters?
