Softball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-7. They lost 11-0 to the Sherwood Bowmen. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

As for Sherwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Sherwood's part, the team relied heavily on Reese Gochenour, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Gochenour a new career-high. Parker Ayers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Liberty is set to square off against their familiar foe McMinnville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sherwood will take on rival Century at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
