Basketball Game Preview: Crestwood Red Devils vs. Cardinal Mooney Cardinals

The Crestwood Red Devils will take on the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals in a tournament on Saturday. Crestwood will be strutting in after a victory while Cardinal Mooney will be coming in after a loss.

Crestwood took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed past St. John to the tune of 87-35. The Red Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Steven Lincoln went supernova for Crestwood, going 11-for-16 from beyond the arc to rack up 33 points. What's more, Lincoln also posted a 61% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Dekota Johnson was another key player, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney lost to Ursuline on the road by a 61-47 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 52nd).

Crestwood's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points over those games. As for Cardinal Mooney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 15 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.
