Basketball Recap: Boiling Springs Takes a Loss

Boiling Springs lost against James F. Byrnes back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Boiling Springs Bulldogs took a 59-43 bruising from the James F. Byrnes Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Rebels are ranked first).

Leading James F. Byrnes to victory were Fabian McClintock and Colt Fowler. McClintock went 10 for 15 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Fowler dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists. The dominant performance gave McClintock a new career-high in points. Jamari Cullen was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Boiling Springs and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for James F. Byrnes, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boiling Springs will host Gaffney at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Boiling Springs is facing Gaffney at the right time seeing as Gaffney is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for James F. Byrnes, they will be playing at home against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. James F. Byrnes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Riverside likes a good challenge.
