Basketball Recap: Kiley Oldehoeft's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Exeter-Milligan/Friend over Heartland

Exeter-Milligan/Friend was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heartland Huskies. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kiley Oldehoeft, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and five steals. Exeter-Milligan/Friend is 2-1 when Oldehoeft posts three or more steals, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylin Schluter, who put up 16 points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heartland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariane Sololuze, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to seven steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sololuze a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Mia Hiebner, who scored 15 points.

Exeter-Milligan/Friend's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Heartland, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Exeter-Milligan/Friend didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 36-29 victory against Pawnee City on the 31st. As for Heartland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-21 defeat against Centennial on the 3rd.
