Softball Game Preview: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Sandusky Blue Streaks

The Columbian Tornadoes will challenge the Sandusky Blue Streaks at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Columbian has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 14.

Columbian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Clyde on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to the Fliers.

Columbian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maizie Mellott, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Emma Daugherty also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Sandusky sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Port Clinton on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Blue Streaks have won by just one run.

Sandusky is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Columbian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
