Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taft). They strolled past the Schaumburg Christian Conquerors with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 85-69. The Eagles pushed the score to 70-46 by the end of the third, a deficit the Conquerors cut but never quite recovered from.

When it comes to explaining why Schaumburg Christian lost, don't look at Lucas Bustamante. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points. The dominant performance gave Bustamante a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Peterson, who posted eight points and four steals.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 10-18. As for Schaumburg Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taft won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Metea Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Schaumburg Christian, they will take on Parkview Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
