Softball Recap: Edison Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Edison's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let the Notre Dame Crusaders get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Kayla Rossi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tayler Burdick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Hailey Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Edison pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Edison will challenge Lansing at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Bobcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Notre Dame, they will face off against Whitney Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
