Game recap: Salpointe Catholic High School Football Team defeats Mountain View

TUCSON, Ariz. - Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.) put an additional 14 points on the board on top of its 33-point lead going into the fourth quarter to beat out Mountain View (Tucson, Ariz.) 56-9.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Andrew Cota to Kaelin Deboskie in the first quarter, the Lancers were up 35-3 at the half.

Salpointe Catholic grew its lead to 33 points entering the fourth quarter. SC's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Jay Williams.

With the win the Lancers extended their winning streak to six games. Salpointe Catholic defeated Marcos de Niza 40-7 last week.

Mountain View's lone touchdown came on a run in the third quarter.

Salpointe Catholic went into the matchup giving up only 5.6 points per game. Mountain View's nine points were well below their season average of 20.0 per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 40-10 win for SC.

The defeat comes as a step back for Mountain View, which notched a 28-27 victory over Poston Butte in its previous outing.

Mountain View (3-3) will play a II Section V game against Vista Grande next week, while Salpointe Catholic (6-0) will take on Rincon also in a II Section V game.
