Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Comes Up Short

Eastern Montgomery was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-3 to the Narrows Green Waves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Green Waves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-3 back in April.

Caleb Jones put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Jones was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Phoenix, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double. That double was Phoenix's first of the season.

Eastern Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Narrows, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Eastern Montgomery will look to defend their home field on Monday against Giles at 5:00 p.m. As for Narrows, they will venture away from home to take on Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
