Volleyball Recap: Island Coast Comes Up Short

Island Coast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the North Fort Myers Red Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Gators of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-12, 25-7.

North Fort Myers was led to victory by Aliyah Santiago and Harley Mendez. Santiago had four digs and three aces, while Mendez had six aces and three digs. Those six aces gave Mendez a new career-high.

Island Coast's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Fort Myers, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

When Island Coast and North Fort Myers next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Gators will face off against Mariner and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, North Fort Myers will try to stop Estero's four-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
