Volleyball Recap: South Kitsap Takes a Loss

South Kitsap lost against Olympia back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wolves lost 3-0 to the Bears. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

South Kitsap was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Kohana Castro and Elizabeth Pugh, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Leilani Killian and her ten assists. Finally, Pugh was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Olympia can attribute much of their success to Alice Fischer, who had 13 digs and two aces. Fischer is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 22 or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. Grace Scriven also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

South Kitsap's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Olympia, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. South Kitsap will square off against rival Bethel at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Olympia is set to take on their familiar foe Yelm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
