Baseball Game Preview: Marlington Dukes vs. Streetsboro Rockets

The Marlington Dukes will head out on the road to face off against the Streetsboro Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Louisville hit Marlington with a seven-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dukes came up short against the Leopards, falling 12-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Dukes have suffered against the Leopards since April 23, 2019.

Meanwhile, Streetsboro has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.18 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 10-4 to Howland.

Streetsboro has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Marlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Marlington skirted past Streetsboro 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dukes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
