Softball Recap: Mayfield Wildcats vs. Berkshire Badgers

Mayfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berkshire Badgers. Mayfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Berkshire apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Mayfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angeleah Saltenis, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ella Mikesell was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

On Berkshire's side, Kylie Gleason was incredible, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Julia Young, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and two runs.

Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for Berkshire, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-10.

Mayfield will head out on the road to square off against Austintown-Fitch at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Austintown-Fitch is coming into the matchup with seven straight victories at home, so Mayfield will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Berkshire will take on Beachwood at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berkshire knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Beachwood likes a good challenge.
