Dawson School and Lyons are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dawson School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Dawson School will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Clear Creek on Thursday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Golddiggers with a sharp 13-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Golddiggers: they've now won five in a row.
Dawson Kusel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Julian Sutton was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Shelton Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Dawson School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.8.
Meanwhile, Lyons didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Machebeuf on Thursday and fell 4-2. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lyons saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake LaCrosse, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Dawson School now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Lyons, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
